Bob Evans Farm Festival

Bob Evans Farm Festival

With over 500 locations throughout eighteen states, Bob Evans Restaurants have been providing quality farm-fresh meals for over 60 years. Serving hearty home-style meals with farm-fresh ingredients, I would imagine that almost every Ohioan and most of the Midwest has visited a Bob Evans Restaurant! Along with the numerous restaurant locations, visitors are welcomed to explore the original Bob Evans farm in Rio Grande, Ohio! For over 45 years, Bob Evans Farms has celebrated Ohio’s agricultural heritage and fall’s bountiful harvest, at the annual Bob Evans Farm Festival.

Nestled on nearly 1,000 acres near Rio Grande, Ohio, the original Bob Evans farm and homestead welcomes visitors to explore one of Ohio’s most beloved farms. Bob and Jewel Evans raised their six children in the brick farmhouse on the property, known as the Homestead. The Homestead was built in 1825, served as a stagecoach and inn during its early years, and now is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Bob Evans and his family were producing sausage for local groceries and meat markets when he purchased the farm in 1953. Bob Evans Farms Sausage, the “made by a farmer on the farm” quickly became a household name, being delivered to nearly 1,800 locations! After a few television ads aired, inviting people to “come down and visit us” at the farm, the farm became quite the popular spot in southeastern Ohio. In 1961, the first “Bob Evans Restaurant” (The Sausage Shop) was built to accommodate more farm visitors. Bob and Jewel Evans lived on the farm for twenty years, then in 1973 Bob Evans Farms, Inc. acquired the Rio Grande farm to maintain as an active farm and local historical center. Today, the farm welcomes visitors to experience the traditions of an Ohio farming community and to celebrate Ohio’s agricultural heritage.
