Lake Erie Bluffs

Situated along the beautiful banks of Lake Erie, is the Lake Erie Bluffs Metropark. Located in Lake County, this metropark has 600-acres of meadows and wetlands, 40-foot tall beach bluffs, and 9,000-feet of breathtaking shoreline! The Lake Erie Bluffs Metropark is truly a nature-lovers dream!

Lake Erie Bluffs Metropark offers visitors five, easy gravel hiking trails throughout the park. With three scenic overlooks, and two beach access points, take a slow hike to admire the natural Ohio beauty surrounding you!! While hiking, visitors can try to spot the numerous rare plant and wildlife species that inhabit the banks of Lake Erie. This bountiful and diverse ecosystem, is a rarity amongst the developed lake shoreline.

One of my favorite things about living in Ohio, is the diverse terrain of Ohio’s natural landscape! Living in central Ohio, I forget how beautiful the Lake Erie region is! I experienced the perfect morning, walking through the lovely metropark, enjoying the birds singing above, the butterflies fluttering around me, and strolling along the banks of Lake Erie! At the first scenic overlook, the trees seemed to frame the lake before me, leaving me speechless! Once at the beach, I enjoyed the waves crashing upon the shore, admired the colorful pebbled beach and the magnificent natural driftwood. It truly was the perfect way to start an Ohio morning!! Besides enjoying the natural setting, the best part about my visit at Lake Erie Bluffs Metropark, was that I was alone! My husband and I, had the entire park, shoreline, and lake all to ourselves!! Spending the morning at the Lake Erie Bluffs Metropark was a wonderful way to enjoy the beauty of Ohio’s natural parks, and to marvel at the shorelines of Lake Erie!
