On the first Thursday of the month, Historic Dublin, Ohio features Jig Thursday which showcases live music on the streets of this charming town. Restaurants have special menu items, visitors can explore local shops, and enjoy live Irish-themed music throughout the historic district. A special edition of last night’s Jig Thursday was the Second Annual Historic Dublin Slider Challenge. The Slider Challenge includes six of Historic Dublin’s finest restaurants (Dublin Village Tavern, J. Liu, La Chatelaine, Mezzo, Oscar’s, and Tucci’s) which provided a unique slider for participants to sample. All six restaurants are within walking distance, making a perfect evening to stroll through Historic Dublin sampling local cuisine and to visit the local shops. After sampling all six sliders, participants voted for their favorite slider. This family-friendly event has sold out for the past two years, and proceeds benefit the Dublin Rotary Club. The Slider Challenge and Jig Thursday was the perfect way to spend a beautiful July evening in Historic Dublin!
Our first stop was Oscar’s, with a slider named “The Victor”, which featured a seasoned beef and pork burger with a house made potato chip and crunchy slaw.
Next, we visited Tucci’s and sampled their Kona Coffee Beef Slider, which featured a beef slider with smoked mozzarella, roasted pepper aioli, baby arugula, and sweet frites.
We enjoyed some live Irish music outside of Mezzo Ristorante and Bar. Then sampled their Meatball Slider which featured a beef, veal, and pork meatball with arugula, provolone, basil pesto, and balsamic reduction.
J. Liu Restaurant and Bar featured their Chophouse Slider, with caramelized onion and bacon jam, cambozola cheese, red wine reduction, on a pretzel bun.
La Chatelaine featured a New Orleans’ themed slider named the Bourbon Street Slider, with a jalapeño brioche bun, anouille sausage, wild créole remoulade sauce, and whiskey caramelized onions.
Our last stop was at the Dublin Village Tavern which featured a Mexican themed Toluca Slider, with ground beef and chorizo topped with house made Pico de Gallo, queso fresco, crispy manchego and avocado.
Each Historic Dublin restaurant featured a unique twist on the all-American slider. The Slider Challenge was the perfect event to showcase the unique businesses of Historic Dublin!
