I hope you had a wonderful weekend! This weekend I took advantage of the beautiful Ohio weather and spent as much time as I could outdoors. Saturday night, I went to Moonlight Market on Gay Street in Downtown Columbus. Moonlight Market is situated on the corners of Gay and High Streets, and is held on the second Saturday evening, April through December. Moonlight Market is a great showcase of local businesses and vendors. With the backdrop of beautiful downtown buildings, city noises buzzing through the air, and the stars above, it was a great night to celebrate the city of Columbus!
I started the night with a yummy fresh strawberry popsicle treat from J-POPS. These all natural, handmade popsicles are from the creative mind, Steven White. With an amazing story behind his company, Steven, originally decided to make his popsicles and sell them, with all proceeds going to the American Red Cross for Japan Relief. After spending two years in Japan teaching English, he felt the need to give back to the Japanese people after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami struck. J-POPS were such a big hit, he decided to open up a small business! From philanthropist to small business owner, how cool is that?! Growing his brand in Columbus, you can find J-POPS at Celebrate Local at Easton Town Center, The Hills Market Downtown, various Farmer’s Markets and festivals around Columbus. Visit one of the local spots to find Steven and his delicious J-POPS!
Next, I spoke to the founders of HempStrong Brands, Scott and Michael. These two are passionate about bringing a sustainable industrial hemp industry to the United States. Their Hemp and Honey Plus line is locally made in Marysville, Ohio. With the vision of sustainability, farm viability, and body health, these two are pushing for Ohio farmers to grow industrial hemp for hemp products. I tried their body butter and picked up a Hemp and Honey Plus Vanilla with Aloe Vera and Matcha Green Tea Hempstick. This lip balm goes on smooth and makes my lips feel moisturized! Check out the Ohio made Hemp and Honey Plus line for great body care products!
The cutest find of the night, was my mini Ohio shaped silver necklace from Red Giraffe Designs. Kate, owner and designer, of the handcrafted jewelry has some adorable pieces in her jewelry collection! From vintage to new and custom jewelry, each piece is handcrafted with care, and showcased simply to let the workmanship speak for itself! She had so many great pieces, it was hard to choose, but I decided on the Ohio charm necklace. Wearing my Ohio charm necklace will remind me of home, wherever I travel! Checkout Red Giraffe Designs at local markets and on Etsy!
The last goody I purchased at Moonlight Market was Ohio shaped wood coasters from ‘Twas Once a Tree Custom Furniture and Fine Crafts. These adorable wood coasters are exactly what I have been searching for! I love the rustic look and Ohio shape! The owner, Mark, had lots of other great designs as well! With so many great local vendors, I will definitely be back to support Ohio made products and businesses! Thanks Moonlight Market on Gay Street for showcasing Downtown Columbus and local Ohio vendors!
