Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day, an anniversary or just need a few days to reconnect with your beloved, these romantic getaways in Ohio for two will make a lovely escape!

Cleveland

Cleveland is the perfect city for a romantic evening with your sweetheart. You can’t beat the sunrise or sunset over Lake Erie and there are plenty of spontaneous activities to do here. Take a walk through the Rockefeller Park Greenhouse, browse the shops along the Larchmere Antique District, visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Cleveland Museum of Art or catch a Cavaliers basketball game or Cleveland Browns football game. Spend the afternoon eating your way through 100 vendors at the historic West Side Market and be sure to snap a selfie together in front of one of the Cleveland script signs.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park

Cuyahoga Valley National Park is a beautiful way to spend the day outdoors with the one you love! As Ohio’s only National Park, Cuyahoga Valley National Park offers nature enthusiasts beautiful scenery. From hiking the Ledges (Virginia Kendall Ledges), chasing waterfalls (be sure to visit Brandywine Falls, Buttermilk Falls and Blue Hen Falls) or biking the Towpath Trail, there’s plenty of outdoor activities to reconnect you both to nature.

Other things to do near Cuyahoga Valley National Park are to take a scenic train ride along the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, visit the Everrett Covered Bridge, sip on a glass of wine at Sarah’s Vineyard and explore the charming nearby towns of Peninsula, Hudson and Cuyahoga Falls.

Akron

Akron is approximately 30 miles from Cleveland with historical sites, museums and beautiful green spaces to explore. Take in the city by stopping by the Akron Zoo and the Akron Art Museum and watch a live performance at the Akron Civic Theatre. Then spend some time outdoors and explore the Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens and Cascade Valley Metro Park to take in the beautiful scenery.

Gervasi Vineyard

An excellent place for a weekend getaway is Gervasi Vineyard. You’ll feel like you’ve been transported to Tuscany as you sample local wines, stroll the the vineyards and experience the rich Italian heritage! This vineyard has excellent dining services with four on-site restaurants, outdoor activities and plenty of cozy spots to admire the breathtaking property. If you’re up for some city exploring, visit nearby downtown Canton. Be sure to visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Canton Museum of Art, the Canton Arts District and watch a live performance at Canton Palace Theatre

Geneva-on-the-Lake

Located on the shores of Lake Erie, Geneva-on-the-Lake is in the heart of Ohio Wine Country. Take a hike at Geneva State Park, admire the lake views while walking along the banks of Lake Erie, take a scenic drive to discover Ashtabula County‘s covered bridges, have a relaxing spa day at The Spa at The Lakehouse Inn and tour the nearby wineries. Geneva-on-the-Lake is one of my personal favorite romantic getaways in Northeast Ohio!

Sandusky

A Sandusky romantic getaway is perfect for a romantic Ohio vacation or day trip. This quaint Lake Erie town offers beautiful coastlines for a hand-holding stroll, waterfront dining, historical sites to visit and there are plenty of fun activities to do in Sandusky, Ohio. Be sure to take a sunset boat cruise, visit the Merry-Go-Round Museum, and enjoy a glass of wine at Firelands Winery.

Lake Erie Islands: South Bass Island & Kelleys Island

Couples looking to recharge and relax for a weekend will find plenty of ways to do that in the Lake Erie Islands. After taking the ferry over to the islands, grab a few drinks and watch the sunset over Lake Erie for beautiful views that you won’t soon forget. While South Bass Island (home to Put-in-Bay) is known for the lively atmosphere with plenty of bars, restaurants and attractions, Kelleys Island is a little quieter.

Amish Country

Amish Country might not be your first choice when it comes to romance, but this is a great weekend trip for couples! Explore the relaxing rural environment and take in a simpler way of life. Within an hour drive from Cleveland, Wooster (named one of Ohio’s Best Hometowns) is a charming Midwest town that invites visitors to explore its historic downtown, peruse local boutiques and watch a live performance at the Ohio Light Opera. Take a scenic drive along the Lincoln Highway Historic Byway, visit the Pine Tree Barn, stop by a local winery, explore Lehman’s Hardware Store and the J.M. Smucker Company Store.

Mohican State Park
