I hope you had a wonderful weekend! This weekend, in Ohio, brought us beautiful fall weather. On Sunday, I attended The Ohio State Four-Miler “Finish on the 50”, it was the perfect opportunity to enjoy the wonderful Ohio weather. As an Ohio State University alumnus, I was excited for the opportunity to set foot on the legendary Ohio State football field! Last year, The Ohio State Four-Miler, set inaugural race participation records, with 10,000 participants, making it the largest inaugural race in the country.
The second annual Ohio State Four-Miler, with 12,000 runners and walkers, took participants on a four mile tour through Ohio State University’s Campus. The highlight for the racers, was finishing through the tunnel at Ohio Stadium (“The Shoe”) and onto the 50-yard line on the Buckeye’s football field. As participants “Finished on the 50”, their picture was live-streamed on the big screen of Ohio Stadium. The Ohio State University sporting teams have a loyal and passionate fan base, this race allowed fans to walk on the Ohio State football field, something that most Ohio State fans have only dreamed of. Watching participants run through the same tunnel as the Ohio State football team, you could sense the excitement and see the emotions on their faces. With family and friends cheering in the stands, race director David Babner’s enthusiasm welcoming the racers at the finish line, former Buckeye athletes greeting racers, and the backdrop of the Ohio Stadium, participants and bystanders were treated to an Ohio State fantasy.
While the racers were treated to an amazing tour of campus and an awesome “Finish on the 50”, a portion of the proceeds from The Ohio State Four-Miler benefit the Buckeye Cruise for Cancer and the Urban and Shelley Meyer Fund for Cancer Research. Presented by M3S Sports, the Ohio State Four-Miler made Ohio State fans’ dreams come true, celebrated fitness and football, and benefited cancer research at Ohio State’s Comprehensive Cancer Center-Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. M3S Sports is known for producing great races, The Ohio State Four-Miler is just another example.
