Discover Michigan

Aside from Ohio of course, Michigan is one of the best Midwest destinations to visit.

A visit to the city of Detroit is a fascinating look at the rise and fall of American industrialism. Detroit is slowly making a comeback after years of neglect, but the downtown area is revitalized and well worth a visit. You might be shocked at all of the green space and public art!

The entire west coast of Michigan borders Lake Michigan with beaches, dunes and quaint towns like Holland, which holds an annual tulip festival each spring. To the north, places like Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and Traverse City draw summer travelers from all over. Driving the Mackinac Bridge is a unique experience that brings you to the “other half” of Michigan: the Upper Peninsula. Step back in time with a visit to car-free Mackinac Island, where you can enjoy an ice cream cone while rocking in a chair on the porch of the Grand Hotel. Elsewhere in the Upper Peninsula, nature abounds. Places like Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and the Keweenaw Peninsula introduce travelers to the waters of Lake Superior, also known as Gitche Gumee.
