View from our room at the Grand Traverse Resort
Traverse City is one of northern Michigan’s best lake town retreats. I’ve been wanting to visit the area for quite some time, and it exceeded my expectations. I instantly fell in love with Traverse City and am already planning a return trip soon! I’ll be sharing more about Traverse City in an upcoming post, stay tuned!

Accommodations:
The Grand Traverse Resort features nearly 600 rooms. Guests can choose to stay at the Hotel, the Tower or a Resort Condominium.
We stayed in the Tower in a King Bay View Room which features newly renovated and spacious rooms. With a design theme of “relaxed luxury,” guests will feel right at home during their stay. While we enjoyed every aspect of the spacious room, including the cozy king-sized bed, the best part of the room is the stunning view. Large windows showcase the beautiful landscape surrounding the resort and provides sweeping views of Lake Michigan’s Grand Traverse Bay. Our stay at the Grand Traverse Resort truly was the perfect retreat after a few long days of exploring Traverse City!

Resort Amenities:
With a plethora of amenities at the resort, you could just stay on the resort’s premises during your entire vacation and never leave! From restaurants, shops, spa services, outdoor activities, swimming pools to a private beach club with beach access, you’ll find everything you need for a relaxing vacation.
Restaurants
From in-room dining to five on-site restaurants and lounges, you won’t go hungry during your stay at the Grand Traverse Resort.
Located on the 16thfloor of the Tower, Aerie Restaurant & Lounge offers fine dining with sweeping views of the hotel’s property and the bay. We started our first night in Traverse City with a cocktail at Aerie Lounge. Afterwards we enjoyed a fantastic meal at Aerie Restaurant. Our four-course dinner consisted of a crispy pork belly starter topped with a delicious house apple butter, the Aerie salad with local cherry vinaigrette and candied pecans and our entrees of the filet and Revier Black Angus Ribeye which were grilled to perfection. Just when we thought we couldn’t eat anymore, our waiter brings us a Red Velvet Crème Brulee with chocolate peppermint bark and peppermint macaron to share…it was delightful!

Aerie Restaurant & Lounge is the perfect romantic setting with the best dining views in the area!
For breakfast, we dined at the resort’s Sweetwater American Bistro. Serving traditional family-style favorites, our breakfast was the perfect fuel to start our day of exploring Traverse City.

Spa Grand Traverse
The Spa Grand Traverse offers an array of spa services from massage therapy, aromatherapy treatments to skin, nail and hair care. Spend the day pampering yourself with one of their signature treatments and dine from their special spa food and beverage menu. With a packed schedule of exploring Traverse City, unfortunately, we didn’t have time to indulge in a relaxing spa treatment. But it will definitely be at the top of our list for the next visit!
Shopping
Forgot something, need a unique gift or just love to shop? Numerous boutiques and shops are located right on the resort’s premises. From a candy and toy shop, unique local gifts to sportwear, accessories and clothing boutiques, you’ll find plenty of goodies to take home with you at one of the shops at Grand Traverse Resort.
Activities
With plenty of fun activities at the resort, you’ll never be bored. The resort features numerous indoor and outdoor swimming pools, an indoor water playground, a hot tub, three championship golf courses, a Golf Academy, a 100,000 square-foot Fitness and Tennis Center, five indoor and four outdoor tennis courts, a private beach club with beach access, watercraft rental and winter rental equipment (snowshoes and cross-country skis).

Turtle Creek Casino
If you’re interested in trying your hand at gambling, Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel is a short distance from the resort. The resort even offers a free round-trip shuttle service between it and the casino. Turtle Creek Casino features a 54,000 square-foot gaming floor with more than 40 game tables, a poker room and 1,300 slots.

When you need to take a break from gambling, dine at Bourbons 72, Turtle Creek’s contemporary steakhouse. We had a delicious three-course dinner, consisting of a creamy Maine Lobster Bisque, filets cooked to perfection and finishing the meal with a yummy cheesecake.

We sincerely enjoyed our relaxing stay at the Grand Traverse Resort and fell in love with Traverse City! While we visited Grand Traverse Resort during the winter, the resort is a year-round destination. Winter is much quieter as the lake freezes and the sandy coastlines mix with snow, summer brings a bustling scene that gives effervescence to the lake town, while autumn and spring paint the landscape with vibrant colors. There’s plenty of fun activities to keep you busy during any season at the resort. With stunning views, cozy beds, delicious fine dining and fun activities, the Grand Traverse Resort is one of the best places to stay in Traverse City, Michigan.
