Hocking Hills Motorcycle Ride
Ohio is a beautiful state all year round, but with autumn colors and bountiful golden harvest in the fields, fall in Ohio is my favorite time of the year! Over the weekend, we hopped on the motorcycle to enjoy the beautiful fall colors and the sunny skies. From Columbus, we drove on winding country roads and then followed State Route 56 into the Hocking Hills region. It was a wonderful ride, taking in the autumnal colors with the sun shining above. Ohio in the fall is stunning!
Hocking Hills is a 2,300-acre park situated in southeastern Ohio. This picturesque Ohio region captivates visitors with unique and beautiful landscapes. With cascading waterfalls, caves, cliffs, gorges, and forests, the abundance of natural scenery is breathtaking! Drive along on curvy and winding roads to enjoy the scenic landscapes or hike on the many trails within the state park. With so much to do, and stunning natural scenery, Hocking Hills is the perfect Ohio escape for the day or weekend!
Cedar Falls is located in the valley of Queer Creek. Descend the almost 100 steps down into the valley, and take in beautiful views of the forest, rock walls, and Queer Creek. Follow the trail over a small bridge that will lead you to the falls. Cedar Falls is the largest waterfall (by water volume) in the Hocking Hills area. Queer Creek flows over the Blackhand sandstone to make a breathtaking and striking backdrop. Unfortunately, Ohio has had little rain, so when we visited last weekend, the falls were dry. But the landscape of the valley, rocks, and forest were still stunning.
Old Man’s Cave is the most popular scenic area in Hocking Hills. Named after the hermit, Richard Rowe, who lived in the cave in the 1800’s, Old Man’s Cave is stunning. This breathtaking cave allows visitors to contemplate nature and be amazed at the natural rock formation. Old Man’s Cave has five sections: Lower Falls, Lower Gorge, Middle Falls, Upper Falls, and Upper Gorge. Descend the steps into the cave, make sure to stop every few steps and take in the magnificent view! The approximately half-mile gorge, allows visitors to marvel at the Blackhand sandstone and the beautiful landscape. With the gorgeous scenery, I can definitely see why Old Man’s Cave is such a popular destination!
Hocking Hills is a nature enthusiast and photographer’s dream! Sometimes I cannot believe that this beautiful park is in Ohio! Make a visit to Hocking Hills to explore some of Ohio’s best natural landscapes. With trails for hiking, horseback riding, and ATV’s, camping facilities from rugged to luxury cabins, creeks and rivers to canoe and kayak on, rock climbing, and zip line tours, the Hocking Hills region has something for everyone! It is the perfect escape to get back to nature and marvel in the stunning landscapes that make Ohio so beautiful!
